Editorial policy: how Interior Design AE sources, checks and corrects its articles

Last updated .

Interior Design AE publishes reference articles about interior design in the United Arab Emirates, and every figure in those articles comes from a document that the editorial team fetched and read at the time of writing. The policy below describes how sources are chosen, how numbers are checked, and what happens when a reader reports an error.

Which sources the site uses

The editorial team ranks sources in a fixed order: government and regulatory publications first (Dubai Municipality, the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport, DEWA, Trakhees, the Dubai Development Authority, Dubai Civil Defence and the UAE federal government portal), then standards bodies and manufacturer data sheets, then dated price guides from licensed UAE contractors and consultants, then reporting from established UAE news outlets. A figure that appears only in an undated marketing page is not used.

Each article cites the exact page a figure came from as a link in the article body, and the year of the figure is written into the sentence that uses the figure. Contractor price guides are named as such in the text, because their figures describe one company's pricing in one year and not a market average.

How figures are checked

The editorial team checks each figure against the source page before publication and again whenever the article is updated. A figure that cannot be traced to a page is removed rather than rounded or estimated. Currency is always written with the AED symbol or the word dirhams and the year; dimensions are written in metric units, with square feet added where the UAE property market quotes in square feet.

What the site does not publish

The site does not publish sponsored articles, paid links, affiliate links, contractor rankings or testimonials. No article on the site is written or edited by a company whose products or services the article describes. The site earns no revenue from the content and lists no commercial partners.

How corrections work

A reader who finds an error writes to info@interior-design.ae.org with the article address, the sentence in question and, where possible, a replacement source. The editorial team checks the replacement source, corrects the article, and changes the update date shown under the headline. A correction that changes a figure by more than a rounding difference is also noted in the article text.

Use of automated tools

The editorial team uses software to fetch source pages, to check links, and to test articles against the site's style rules. The selection of sources, the wording of every claim and the decision to publish rest with the editorial team.
