Accessibility statement for Interior Design AE

Interior Design AE is built as plain HTML with a single stylesheet and no scripts, so the site works with screen readers, keyboard navigation, text-only browsers and browser zoom. This statement describes the measures in place, the known limits and how to report a barrier.

Measures built into the site

The site applies the nine measures listed below on every page of the site, from the home page to the technical documents, so that the same behaviour is available to every reader:

• A skip link at the top of each page moves keyboard focus straight to the main content.
• Headings follow a single hierarchy: one H1 per page, H2 for sections, H3 for sub-sections.
• Navigation regions carry labels ("Main sections", "Breadcrumb", "Related articles").
• Every data table has a header row, and on narrow screens each cell repeats its column name.
• Every image carries a text alternative that names the subject, and a caption in the visible text.
• Link text describes the destination; no link reads "click here".
• Text sizes are set in relative units, and the layout reflows at 390 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
• Text colour is near-black (#1d1a17) on a light sand page (#f4ede2), a contrast ratio above 12:1.
• No content moves, flashes or plays automatically.

Standard the site aims at

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site has not been audited by an external body, and the editorial team tests each page with automated HTML validation and with keyboard-only navigation before publication.

Known limits

Data tables with more than five columns are stacked cell by cell on screens narrower than 560 pixels, which makes comparison across a row slower with a screen reader than on a wide screen. PDF documents linked from articles are published by government bodies and manufacturers, and their accessibility depends on the publisher.

How to report a barrier

A reader who meets a barrier writes to info@interior-design.ae.org with the page address and a description of the problem. The editorial team aims to reply within ten working days and to fix a confirmed barrier in the next update of the page. This statement was last updated on 13 September 2026.
